To evaluate the effectiveness of a school-based intervention to tackle social inequalities in adolescents' adoption of healthy behaviours.

To investigate the impact of the intervention on quality of life, anxiety and depression.

To evaluate the feasibility of implementing interventions to tackle inequalities in the school setting.

Outcome

The screening strategy in high schools effectively reduced adolescent overweight and obesity over two years.

A significant improvement in physical activity, sedentary behaviour and diet indicators was associated with a reduction of the social gradient after one year.
