Aim
The "Running Out of Time Relay" is an annual, non-stop event where thousands of participants – runners, walkers, cyclists, swimmers, paddlers, and many others – carry a baton containing a crucial message about climate change over vast distances. While its primary aim is climate action and environmental awareness, it inherently promotes physical activity and highlights the essential role of active mobility in building a sustainable future. The relay emphasizes the urgency of climate action by symbolizing time running out, while also demonstrating how collective physical engagement can generate a significant impact. Participants relay day and night, traversing diverse landscapes from cities to rural areas, creating a human chain of solidarity and physical effort.
Outcome
Outcome
Engages tens of thousands of participants, reaches millions through social media, raises funds for climate charities, and highlights local climate action projects. It demonstrates the power of mass participation and active mobility in addressing global challenges. Participants benefit from improved fitness, a sense of accomplishment, and a connection to a larger cause.
