Aim
Improve the physical, mental, and social well-being of children by encouraging them to participate in regular physical activity. Specifically, it seeks to address the growing issue of sedentary lifestyles in young people by getting children outside for 15 minutes of running, walking, or wheeling every day. The initiative focuses on making physical activity fun and inclusive for all children, regardless of ability, and aims to enhance concentration, fitness, and overall happiness.
Outcome
Outcome
Over 5 million children in 96 countries now participate in The Daily Mile program. This growth began with just 30 children in one school in Scotland in 2012.
The initiative operates in over 20,000 schools worldwide, including regions such as the UK, the US, Canada, New Zealand, and South Africa, promoting physical activity and well-being.
Research supports that The Daily Mile significantly improves children’s fitness, increases alertness, and boosts concentration in class, leading to better learning outcomes.
